Fall 2015 Tryout Results
We had a fantastic Fall Tryout this past week with over 150 young climbers attending. Thanks to all who attended for making this tryout a huge success. The competition was fierce but we have put together our final list.
If your child is not listed on one of the teams below, then they are recommended for our Recreational Climbing Club program (Ages 9-13) or one of our open enrollment programs (Ages 13+) such as Intro to Movement, Fundamentals of Bouldering, or the outdoor Intermediate Rock Climbing. Registration for Recreational Climbing Club opens the morning of Wednesday August 19th.
To accept your invitation to the team, you must complete the Team Registration and Billing Agreement before this Sunday August 23rd at midnight; otherwise we will be unable to guarantee your child’s spot on the team.
Please review the Parent Handbook & Team Code of Conduct carefully before completing your registration. Also note that there is a mandatory parent meeting to cover these materials on the following dates:
Columbia – Thursday September 10th from 5:30-6 pm
Rockville – Monday September 14th from 5:30-6 pm
Timonium – September 16th from 5:30-6 pm
A guardian of each team member must attend ONE of these meetings. No RSVP necessary.

Fall 2015 Climbing Team Invites
New Rockville Head Coach
We are thrilled to announce that our very own, outstanding, Daniel Clarke will be taking over for Tori as Rockville’s Head Coach starting this 2015/2016 season. Daniel’s a former Team member and is so psyched to share his passion for climbing, especially competitive climbing with our athletes. Congratulations Daniel, and we are looking forward to another fantastic year!
SCS Nationals Results
We had a terrific weekend at SCS Nationals July 9-12 in Atlanta. Team Earth Treks placed 5th overall in the Nation, and we had three athletes make the US Team: Noah B for taking 1st place in Speed, Arabella for taking 2nd in speed, and Kayla for taking 1st in Speed.
The 18 athletes who competed, gave it their all, and we are so proud of their achievements! Final results can be found here.
Summer Team Practice
If you are excited to continue practicing with Team past the end of the school year, then consider joining us for 6 weeks of summer Team practice! Summer practices are available at all three gyms for any current Team member. This is a great opportunity for athletes to stay active and on top of their game over the long summer break. There is only one practice time for all levels of Team, fostering increased Team unity. Check out dates/times, cost, and registration information below.
• Timonium and Rockville – Monday/Wednesday 4:30-6:30pm
• Columbia – Tuesday and Thursday 4:30-6:30pm

Summer Team Technique Camp
At Earth Treks Columbia, July 27th-31st, we are offering a mini technique clinic specifically geared towards athletes on Intermediate and Advanced Team. This clinic will feature a small coach to climber ratio, and instruction specifically focused on refining and improving climbing technique. Taking this clinic helps athletes head into tryouts and the fall season, with increased confidence and a solid base of good climbing movement to build on. Details below:

Spring 2015 Outdoor Day Trips
This Fall we had our first outdoor Day Trip with the Team to Coopers Rock, WV, which was a huge success. Parents, athletes, and coaches all had a blast!
This Spring, we will be running a bouldering day trip to Coopers as well as having a Top Rope day at Great Falls, Va. Please mark your calendars for the following dates.
A parent or designated chaperone will be responsible for transportation and supervision of each athlete during these day trips. Earth Trek’s Coaches will meet you and your child at Great Falls or Coopers Rock. Preregistration is required for this program. Look for a follow up email coming soon with information on registration!
What: Bouldering Team Day Trip
Where: Coopers Rock, WV
When: Saturday April 18, 2015 from 10am-6pm
Cost: $45 members / $50 non-members
Transportation and Supervision: Parents are responsible for transportation and supervision Prerequisites: Open to current climbing Team members. Each participant must be accompanied by a parent or designated chaperone.
What to bring: Climbing shoes, chalk, bouldering pad – if you have one (Coaches will provide some pads for the group), water and food.
Inclement Weather and Cancellation Policy: This trip is dependent on good weather and sufficient enrollment. If the forecast is for inclement weather, we will cancel the trip on Thursday April 16 and issue full refunds. If there is insufficient enrollment, we will cancel the trip and issue full refunds on April 10.

What: Top Roping Team Day Trip
Where: Great Falls, VA
When: Saturday May 16, 2015 from 8:30am-4pm (we will do a trail sweep and help collect any garbage on our way out of the park)
Cost: $45 members / $50 non-members
Transportation and Supervision: Parents are responsible for transportation and supervision Prerequisites: Open to current climbing Team members. Each participant must be accompanied by a parent or designated chaperone.
What to bring: Climbing shoes, harness, chalk, water and food. Earth Treks will provide and set up the Top Ropes.
Inclement Weather and Cancellation Policy: This trip is dependent on sufficient enrollment. If there is insufficient enrollment, we will cancel the trip and issue full refunds on May 8.

Outdoor Bouldering Day Trip rescheduled to October 25th!
Due to inclement weather, the Cooper’s bouldering trip has been rescheduled to October 25th. Same details as those listed below, only we will make the call based on the weather forecast by 7pm on Thursday October 23rd. Please consider signing up today!

Registration for the ABS Youth Local Comp on November 8th at Earth Treks Timonium is now FULL! Sorry but we cannot take any more registrations at this point.
Outdoor Bouldering Day Trip
October 4th, 2014 we are offering an outdoor bouldering day trip to Cooper’s Rock, WV. This is a great opportunity for our athletes who have bouldered indoors and are looking to continue to improve their skills. Outdoor bouldering presents different challenges and learning opportunities, but also additional risks. A parent or designated chaperone will be responsible for transportation and supervision of each athlete during this day trip. Earth Trek’s Coaches will meet you and your child at Coopers for an amazing day on some of the best rock on the East Coast.

Registration for November 8th ABS Local Competition at Earth Treks Timonium
Earth Treks is proud to host a local ABS Youth Competition on November 8th at our Climbing Center in Timonium. Due to size limitations, the number of competitors will be capped at 100. Registration for this event will open in the morning on Wednesday September 24th. Please register early to ensure your participation in this competition.

Regional Championship Results
SCS Regional Championships 2014
Thank you to all the competitors, parents, setters, and staff who made Regionals this past Saturday a huge success. And thank you to everyone who helped support the Team Bake Sale. We raised $317.57, which went to support Mid Atlantic Climbers.
Local Results May 2014
We’ve had a busy 2014 SCS Local Competition Season. Check out the results from Delaware Rock Gym, Philadelphia Rock Gym, and Go Vertical. Congratulations to all our athletes on their outstanding effort.
Plus, join us this Saturday May 10th at Earth Treks Rockville for the Capital Region Championship. There will be amazing climbing to watch, fantastic problems to try afterwards, plus the Earth Treks Team will be raising money to support Mid Atlantic Climbers through a bake sale. Come enjoy the comp and buy some sweets to support our local climbing access. Good luck Team!
