Ice and Peaks
Earth Trek’s Ice and Peaks Climbing Seminar is designed for beginners and intermediate climbers, those who have climbed indoors, outdoors or ice. Ice climbing, much like in rock climbing, requires footwork and balance to succeed. As such, we will learn traditional crampon and axe techniques used for ascending lower angled water ice and snow. For our mountaineering day we’ll also learn how to use techniques to make distant objectives achievable in an efficient way. Throughout the four day seminar, we will progress to more difficult objectives, focusing on efficient movement. Finally, we will bring it all together by testing our new-found knowledge, as well as our legs and arms, on both pillars of vertical ice and the high point of New York-Mt. Marcy at 5,344’.
Ice and Peaks is a great prep course for our Mountaineering Expeditions.
