Earth Treks Introduction to Ice Climbing

New England winters create the perfect conditions for world-class ice climbs to form consistently each season in the idyllic Adirondack Mountains of New York. For those wishing to discover the thrill of this exhilarating and fast-growing sport, this introductory course features a great environment, furnishes all the necessary technical equipment, and boasts outstanding instruction from experienced guides in technical ice axe and crampon use, handling rope systems, understanding ice protection, selection of clothing and food considerations for ice climbing and much more. Ice climbing is a blast, and the Intro to Ice Climbing Seminar is a great way to get in on the fun. No experience necessary- just a yearning for a frosty winter adventure

This course focuses on developing proper ice climbing technique in a top rope environment, the ins and outs of ice climbing gear, and staying warm and dry in a cold environment. Over the three-day seminar, we will climb loads of ice in different locations as skills and goals necessitate. In the evenings, we gather at local eateries for great food, joke contests and war stories from the day’s adventures. Inquire Online
